The Rally came to its conclusion on Friday, with the last stage kicking-off in Motocross style. It was a high-octane and intensely fought stage, all in dunes, which aptly brought the curtains down on the rally on a high.

The final stage saw Sherco TVS Factory Rally Team’s Joan Pedrero finish in the top 10 with as he finished seventh, followed by Martin Diego Duplessis at P11. Meanwhile, Vanni Cominotto moved up to P21 in the overall rankings while Lorenzo Santolino finished at P31 (post revised stage 4 rankings).

For Hero MotoSports, both their riders finished in top-20 with Oriol Mena finishing 15th and CS Santosh finishing in 19th place. Hero MotoSports team will take a lot of positives from this result considering that in this edition almost all the top teams and top riders of the Dakar were competing, imparting it a flavour of a “mini-Dakar”.

“It was our first international rally after the Dakar. I am really glad to have finished the Merzouga, as I was a little worried after the crash I had at the Desert Storm. Overall I think I made fewer mistakes this year and improved a lot in my speed and navigation, this is been a good learning experience for me,” said CS Santosh

“The Merzouga Rally is tough and very competitive but I am thrilled to have finished in the top 10. It has been a great learning ground and I hope to use these learnings going forward.” Joan Pedrero of Sherco TVS Factory Rally Team added.
