India team rides on Siddhanth’s triple silver

Pune: Siddhant Khopade swam his way to three silver medals and Futsal team won a bronze medal as India became the first Asian Nation to win both individual and team medals in the FISEC Games 2017 here in Lignano, Italy.

India had sent a team under the School Sports Federation of India wherein Siddhant made the country proud by winning three silver medals in the 69th edition of FISEC Games.

Pune: Siddhant Khopade swam his way to three silver medals and Futsal team won a bronze medal as India became the first Asian Nation to win both individual and team medals in the FISEC Games 2017 here in Lignano, Italy.

India had sent a team under the School Sports Federation of India wherein Siddhant made the country proud by winning three silver medals in the 69th edition of FISEC Games.

This year’s FISEC Games were organised by the Italian Catholic School Sports Federation in association with the Italian Olympic Association and under the aegis of the International Sports Federation for Catholic Schools (FISES).

In the FISEC Games held in Lignano neat Venice from July 2 to 8, India had sent a 40-member team in three sports-girls volleyball, boys futsal and swimming.

Siddhant Khopade won silver medals in 200m backstroke, 100m backstroke and 50m backstroke. He clocked impressive timings of 2 minute 24.10 seconds in 200m event; 1:05.21 in 100m and 31.76 seconds in 50 dash.

While Futsal team won bronze medal with impressive show, the girls volleyball team too did well but failed to strike a medal. Indian girls defeated teams from Portugal and Spain. India girls volleyball team, suffered losses against Italy and Flanders.
