Hutchings boys lose in quarters

Earlier in the day, Hutchings High School defeated Laxmanrao Apte Prashala 2-0 to enter the quarterfinal round. Sanchit Paranjape scored the first goal for Hutchings High School in the 6th minute while Anvit More scored the second goal in the 21st minute.

PUNE: Hutchings High School boys went down to Vidya Bhavan High School 0-1 in the quarterfinals of the Under-17 category of the Zilla Parishad football tournament being played at SSPMS football ground on Sunday.

Earlier in the day, Hutchings High School defeated Laxmanrao Apte Prashala 2-0 to enter the quarterfinal round. Sanchit Paranjape scored the first goal for Hutchings High School in the 6th minute while Anvit More scored the second goal in the 21st minute.

In another Round 4 match, Vidya Bhavan High School defeated Bharati Vidyapeeth English Medium School, Erandwane 5-0. Anish Gaware from Vidya Bhavan scored a brace in the 5th and 9th minutes. Aman Pillay (4th), Shreyas Jagtap (18th) and Aaron Sathe (24th) added one goal each to the tally.

Meanwhile in the semifinals of the Under-17 girls battle, St Mary’s High School defeated Nagarvala Boarding 2-0 with Jiya Sundaram scoring both the goals in the 6th and 10th minutes.

In the finals, The Bishop’s School, Kalyaninagar defeated St Mary’s School 5-4 in the tiebreaker after the score was 1-1 at regulation time.

Final: The Bishop’s School, Kalyaninagar 1 (Vaibhavi Medh 28th, Tie breaker:Shivanjali Pandhit, Vaibhavi Medh, Aarshi Wadhwani, Nicole Dobson) bt St Mary’s School 1 (Jiya Sundaram 4th, Tie breaker: Jiya Sundaram, Urvi Salunkhe, Nitya Bhosale).
