Hero MotoSports, Sherco TVS gear up for Merzouga

Pune: Indian teams Hero MotoSports Team Rally and Sherco TVS Factory Rally team are all set and geared up for the 2018 Merzouga Rally which will commence from April 15 to 20 in Morocco.

The Hero MotoSports Team will be represented by its Indian star rider CS Santosh and Dakar Hero Oriol Mena while Sherco TVS Factory Rally Team  announced a 4-rider squad which includes Joan Pedrero and Lorenzo Santilino from Spain, Martin Duplessis from Argentina and Vanni Cominotto from Italy.

The Hero MotoSports Team will be represented by its Indian star rider CS Santosh and Dakar Hero Oriol Mena while Sherco TVS Factory Rally Team  announced a 4-rider squad which includes Joan Pedrero and Lorenzo Santilino from Spain, Martin Duplessis from Argentina and Vanni Cominotto from Italy.

Oriol Mena (Rider No. 17) who finished Dakar 2018 as the best rookie rider with a 7th place finish will look to continue and extend his good form. The Indian ace, CS Santosh (Rider No. 29), who also delivered his personal best of 35th place finish at Dakar 2018, will look to spend some quality time on the bike. Team’s third rider Joaquim Rodrigues will join the team as a Mentor, while he continues his recovery from the injuries of his unfortunate crash at the Dakar 2018.

Meanwhile the experienced Joan Pedrero will lead the Sherco TVS Rally Factory team in this event. Santolino Lorenzo will be participating for the first time in the Merzouga Rally. Lorenzo is a 7-time Spanish champion between Enduro and XC and has participated in OiLibya Rally , Morocco in 2017 and Desert Storm, India in 2018. Martin Duplessis and Vanni Cominotto will also be making their debut.

The rally will be organised in the Merzouga region of Morocco, known for its large dunes and extremely soft sands. The competitors will start with a short prologue on 15th April, which will be followed by 5 days of intense rallying including two days of gruelling Marathon stage.
