Haryana shines in Jr Boxing Championship

Though Haryana did well to take eight gold medals, Tamil Nadu’s M. Loshini Mangesh take pride of beating Nisha Singh, a Haryana boxer, on points (5:0).

NAGPUR: Haryana proved their superiority yet again as eight of their boxers bagged gold of the nine who played in the final even as Devika Ghorpade of Maharashtra was adjudged as the best among competitors in the first Sub-Junior National Boxing Championships, which concluded in Nagpur on Friday.

Though Haryana did well to take eight gold medals, Tamil Nadu’s M. Loshini Mangesh take pride of beating Nisha Singh, a Haryana boxer, on points (5:0).

Mushkan Singh started the proceedings for Haryana in 34 kg class winning her final against Punjab’s Bhavna Ajay Kumar 4:1.

For Haryana, Prachi Kinha (40 kg) Prachi(42kg) Tamanna Kumar (44 kg); Kushi Avtar (50kg) Aanchal Saini (52Kg) Priti Dahiya (57kg) and Pranjal Yadav (63) – all made it to the top of the podium.

Gold for Devika
Maharashtra’s Devika claimed the gold medal, defating her Delhi opponent Sanjana Ramkaran 4:1. 

Other two Maharashtra boxers finished their campaign and returned home with silver medals.
