Haryana crushes Jharkhand 9-2

PUNE: Haryana came out with an impressive performance to oust Jharkhand 9-2 in a Pool ‘B’ match of the 8th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship A Division  in Lucknow on Friday.

Haryana scored two goals in the first quarter to set the momentum and followed up with another four goals in the third quarter to stamp their authority on the match. 

Jharkhand pulled two goals back in the 45th minute through Vijay Xess and in the 46th minute through Jen Soreng but Haryana’s three goals in the fourth quarter saw them register a comfortable victory. 

Association of Indian Universities, Namdhari XI, Punjab and Railway Sports Promotion Board also secured victories in their respective matches. 

RESULTS, Day 2:  Association of Indian Universities beat Chandigarh 1-0; Punjab and Sind Bank drew with Gangpur-Odisha 1-1; Namdhari XI bt Central Reserve Police Force 2-1; Haryana bt Jharkhand 9-2; Punjab bt Services Sports Control Board 3-2; Railways bt Madhya Pradesh 3-0.
