Green Box Minifootball Championship from February 17

PUNE: A total of 160 players will be seen in action in the 5th edition of the Green Box Mini football Championship which will be organised by Green Box Recreation Pvt Ltd and played at Goel Ganga Legends, Bavdhan from February 17 to March 3.

Speaking to reporters the director of Green Box Recreation Pvt Ltd, Hrishikesh Baravkar said “The event will witness 64 league games plus 16 knockouts to be played in professional league and Under 14 league simultaneously for the fifth time in the city. Every team will consist of 10 players with 6 players on field and multiple substitutions will be allowed.” 

Baravkar added that the teams which were formed after an auction which was held on January 24 include Goldfieldd Rangers, Punit Balan Spartans, Goel Ganga Group Aztecs, Trna Indian Paladins, The Vegetable & Competitive Sports Lancers, KSH Bolts, Firebirds, SS Roy & Associates Vikings, Abhayraj Shirole & Associates & By the Way (Restaurant) Samurais, MP Group Mavericks, HealYos & Cholesterol Clinics Centurions, Chetas Knights, Ravetkar Housing Gladiators.

The tournament will offer a total prize money of Rs.1,00,000.  The winning team will get Rs. 50, 000 and a trophy while the runners-up will get Rs 25,000 and a trophy. Apart from that, the tournament will also offer Man-of-Match, Golden Boot, Player of the Tournament cash awards and trophies.
