Pune: Anurag Giri ensured he made his visit count as he bagged his first title in the city claiming the Deccan Gymkhana all-India Snooker Championship 2018 at the Deccan Gymkhana.
In a final that stretched to three hours, Anurag got the better of Rushabh Takkar 5-1 in the best of seven frame summit encounter.
Anurag, a regular competitor in city tournaments, as usual began the day composing a huge 109-point break and step up the pressure while going one up. However, a slow and steady Rushabh turned tables with a composed approach and first levelled terms before taking the lead.
Rushab’s comeback was stalled with the 28-year-old Anurag pegging back and win the next three frame with the third and fifth being close. At the end of the day, Anurag signed off with a 128 (90)-07, 08-50, 49-78, 64-52, 63-08, 54-45 score.
