Pune: Tenth seed Gaurav Lohapatre stunned top seed Sanat Bokil 4-0 to lift the title in the Under-21 category in the 18th Players Cup Table Tennis Tournament at Deccan Gymkhana Club here on Saturday.
A paddler from Brihan Maharashtra College of Commerce, Gaurav began the proceedings by taking the first set 12-10. Top seed Sanat tried hard but could not match the intensity of Gaurav, as he claimed the second set 11-9.
In the next two sets as well, Gaurav dominated proceedings and claimed the title winning third and fourth sets 11-7 and 11-6 respectively.
Gaurav who won his first title of the season plays for the club India Khelega.
Top seed, Eesha Joshi showed her class defeating third seed Saloni Shah 4-0 to clinch the title. Eesha started off in style, winning the first set 11-5. In the second set as well, Eesha did not let anything slip from her hand by winning it 11-7.
Saloni could not do much in the third set as Eesha took an unassailable 3-0 lead after winning it 11-5.
The fourth set turned out to be a cakewalk for Eesha, as she wrapped up the match, winning it 11-7.
Earlier in the semi-finals, Eesha defeated fifth seed Swapnali Narle 11-9, 11-8, 11-8, 8-11, 11-9 while Saloni ousted Ujawala Gaikwad 6-11, 7-11, 11-5, 11-8, 7-11, 11-4, 11-8.
