Fortunegiants maintain supremacy over Puneri Paltan

Patna:  It was the third straight defeat for Puneri Paltan as they went down to Gujarat Fortunegiants 27-37 during the Pro Kabaddi League Season 6 match here at the Patliputra Sports Complex on Tuesday.

Refreshed Puneri Paltan were back in action after a six day break after their home leg while Gujarat Fortunegiants who have displayed good form in their last two games looked forward to make it a hattrick of wins. Going on the mat, Puneri Paltan looked for a win after suffering two defeats back home.

Sachin opened the account for Gujarat Fortunegiants in the opening minute while More GB did it for Puneri Paltan as he escaped the hold attempt by Ruturaj Koravi.

In the third minute Nitin Tomar scored a raid point and opened his account for the night as the score read 4-2. Meanwhile Mahendra Rajput closed in the gap for the Fortunegiants in the 5th minute making it 4-4.

The first half was proving to be a close affair where Pune were leading by a point for a few moments while Fortunegiants  were catching up soon. With six minutes to go for the first half, Gujarat were leading with the score reading 11-8. Pune was soon closing in on the gap with some quick points from Nitin Tomar. 
 
At the end of the first half, Puneri Paltan were trailing with the score reading 12-16 as Gujarat Fortunegiants looked to continue dominance.

In the second half, Nitin Tomar started with a successful raid as Pune intensified their efforts to close in on the gap. Tomar scored on the right corner when he escaped a tackle attempt from Gujarat captain Sunil Kumar.

As the second half progressed the Fortunegiants seemed to race ahead when K Prapanjan scored a successful raid after escaping a good tackle from the Pune defence as the score read 13-20 with the Fortunegiants having the edge.

In the 25th minute, it was a super tackle for Puneri Paltan when Mahendra Rajput went against three men but fell short of the midline. 
 
Results: Puneri Paltan 27 (Nitin Tomar 6, Ravi Kumar 4, Rinku Narwal 3, Sandeep Narwal 3, Monu 2, Akshay Jadhav 2) lost to Gujarat Fortunegiants 37 (Sachin 10, Mahendra Rajput 6, Ruturaj Koravi 4, Sunil Kumar 3, Parvesh Bhainsawal 3, Sachin Vittala 2).

Top defender: Ruturaj Koravi (4 pts, Gujarat Fortunegiants)
