FC Pune City aims to move to top spot against Kerala

PUNE: 2018 did not start on a good note for Kerala Blaster’s as their new year’s announcement was parting ways with the head coach, Rene Meulensteen, ahead of their Indian Super League (ISL) clash against FC Pune City in Kochi.

On Friday here at the Balewadi Sports Complex the two teams will meet in the reverse fixture, where a win would once again provisionally take the Stallions to the top of the table, while the visitors too can close in on top four.

David James, who played the role of keeper-manager in the inaugural season for Kerala Blasters, is now at the helm and has had a roller-coaster ride so far, with a draw against hosts Pune to begin with.

On the other hand, FC Pune City’s head coach, Ranko Popovic, once in a while keeps going back to that particular game in Kochi, where his side dropped points despite being the better team throughout.
