Excellency, Rly Police have it easy

PUNE: Excellency Academy and Railway Police registered huge wins over Hockey Lovers and Hockey United to advance into the next round of the 3rd Krishnan Appa Memorial Invitational Hockey Tournament at the Major Dhyan Chand Poligras Stadium in Nehrunagar-Pimpri on Monday.

On the opening day, Excellency Academy led by a three-goal second half feat by Monish Chavan (41st, 44th, 46th) showed no mercy against Hockey Lovers and won 7-0.

The winners ran up a 3-0 advantage at half time after Veerat Kamble (17th); Bhushan Dere (21st) and Ruben Kedari (27th) scored before swelling the tally via Monish after resumption. Ramesh Pillay scored the seventh goal in the 48th minute.

RAILWAYS SURGE
Later, Railway Police won a 11-goal thriller against Hockey United 8-3. The architech of the win was Omkar Musale who scored four-goals. He struck once in the 29th minute of the first half and added three more in the 40th, 46th, 55th minutes. The other scorers for the Railway Police were a brace by Sanket Sapkal, Roshan Musale and Pratik Phalke.

For Hockey Lovers, Zeeshan Shaikh, Ashish Bhosale and Akash Khaire struck, but failed to garner support from team-mates.

In the third encounter of the day, Rovers Academy pipped PCMC XI 1-0 with Aditya Rassal (35th) minute scoring the all-important goal.
