Dharnidhar Mishra claims double crown

Top seed Dharnidhar started the day winning the singles title defeating Parth Chivte 9-0 while in the doubles, he and Akash Khaif registered a 6-3, 6-2 win over  Mandar Wakankar and Rohit Shinde

Pune: Dharnidhar Mishra lighted up the festive season by winning two titles in the Om Dalvi Memorial Trust at the Maharashtra Police Tennis Gymkhana in Aundh on Monday.

Top seed Dharnidhar started the day winning the singles title defeating Parth Chivte 9-0 while in the doubles, he and Akash Khaif registered a 6-3, 6-2 win over  Mandar Wakankar and Rohit Shinde.

Dharnidhar, who had a good run so far in the tournament, defeated Venkey Achary 9-3 in the semi-finals.

The pair of Joy Banerjee and Rajesh Mittal clinched the amateur doubles title defeating Nitin Sawant and Rohan 6-1, 6-3.

Semifinal: 1-Dharnidhar Mishra bt Venkey Achary 9-3, 2-Parth Chivte bt 4-Santosh Kurale 9-5

Doubles:

Semifinal: Mandar Wakankar and Rohit Shinde bt Rakesh Zadpe and Rohit Kurade 9-1; Dharnidhar Mishra and Akash Khaif bt Balaji Irkal and Santosh N 9-1.
