Deepit conquers Under-18 title

Deepit came out with a clincial performance to register a 11-8 , 11-6, 11-7, 11-7 win over Dev. Deepit , who hails from Thane, had to sweat hard to defeat Pune player Gaurav Lohapatre 11-6, 11-9, 11-5, 13-15, 11-7 in the semi-finals.

Pune: Top seed Deepit Patil showed no mercy in crushing second seed Dev Shroff 4-0 in the boys Under-18 category of the State Ranking table tennis tournament at Symbiosis Sports here on Saturday.

The quarter-final was much easier affair for Deepit, who ousted one more Pune player Aryan Panse 11-4, 11-7, 11-4, 11-6.
Dev had defeated his Mumbai Suburbs counterpart Hrishikesh Malhotra 14-12, 11-7, 11-9, 12-14, 11-3 in the semi-finals.
Among girls, top seed Aditi Sinha had to struggle hard before scoring a 4-2 victory over Pune’s season campaigner Pritha Vartikar.

Mumbai Suburbs girl Aditi started on a bright note by taking the first two sets 11-8, 12-10. Pritha rallied back strongly and made it 2-all, winning the third and fourth set 12-10, 11-8.

In the fifth set, Aditi got her act together and claimed the fifth set 11-9. In the sixth set, Aditi continued her dominance and clinched the contest with a 11-7 victory.   

In the semi-finals, Aditi got the better of Sampada Bhiwandkar 18-16, 11-2, 11-9, 11-8.
