City Club, Ghorpadi YO, Anglo Urdu and St Vincent’s School enter finals

PUNE: City Club will play Ghorpadi Young Ones and Anglo Urdu HS take on St. Vincent’s HS in the finals of the Open and School sections respectively for the inaugural Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) Bicentennial football tournament, at the Ghorpadi Bazar football ground, here on Saturday.

In the semifinals on Firday, City Club fought past a spirited Snigmay FC 1-0. The all important goal was scored by Rehan Saw (43th).

Later, Ghorpadi Young Ones had to fight to down PIFA 1-0.  Prabhu Bhandari’s forty-eighth minute strike off a Manpreet Singh assist was enough to settle the issue.

In the Under-17 inter-school section, Anglo Urdu scored tie-breaker (5-4) win over Hillgreen HS after playing out regulation time 1-1.  Hillgreen struck first via Prakash Phatak (10th) which was neutralised six minutes later by Aman Shaikh (16th).

In the tie-breaker, Saad Shaikh, Hamja Ansari, Adil Shaikh and Zakir Sayyed netted for Anglo Urdu HS, while Adarsh Tiwari and Samuel Selvedas managed to reduce the margin for Hillgreen after Alex Michel and Abbas Karrywalla missed their penalty kicks.
