Chinmay wins weekly chess for 7th time

PUNE: Chinmay Kulkarni played an impressive chess to emerge victorious in the 50th edition of Every Sunday Rapid Chess Championship on Sunday.

There was a tie for first place between top three seeded trio Chinmay, Biswajit Nayak and Aakanksha Hagawane as they finished in same order scoring seven points each but fortunes favoured Chinmay. After losing to Biswajit, Chinmay beat Aakanskha which helped him to win the title. Keval Nirgun finished on fourth place.

The tournament was held in 8 round swiss league format and the Chief arbiter was youngest FIDE Arbiter Dipti Shidore assisted by Senior National Arbiter Amit Sohany.

1. Chinmay Kulkarni: 7 points and 34.5 Bucholz; 2. Biswajit Nayak: 7 points and 33.5 Bucholz; Aakanksha Hagawane: 7 points and 32.5 Bucholz; 4. Keval Nirgun: 6.5 points; 5. Ranveer Mohite: 6 points.
