Pune: Chetak FC ‘B’ team, Snigmay FC, FC Beckdino scored regulation wins to make it to the next round of SM Joshi Memorial Football tournament being played at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Ground, Vallabh Nagar, Pimpri here on Tuesday.
A Sourabh Ahir brace propelled Chetak FC ‘B’ team to a 2-0 win over Bluestag FC. Chetak started off on a frontfoot and took a lead in 16th minute with a simple tap-in by Ahir thanks to a accurate pass by Pankaj Kulkarni. Ahir then doubled his tally in the 34th minute as he converted a pass from Kushal Kulkarni.
In another match of the day, Roopali FC thrashed Phoenix Sports Club 7-0 with a 5-goal spree by Harshad Rakshe. He was helped by quick a brace from Shubham Potgun. Rakshe was on fire, making the Phoenix defenders pay for every chance he got with pin-point finishes throughout the game. He was largely helped in the attacking line by Phoenix defenders’s slack play, who conceded posession in dangerous areas-giving chances to Roopali FC attackers to score at every opportunity.
In yet another match of the day, FC Beckdinho ran out comfortable 3-0 winners of Blackhaws FC with goals from Yogiraj Bhandari, Vedant Kokate and Younus Shaikh. Having started the match brightly, FC Beckdinho opened the scoring in 9th minute with a neatly-taken strike from Yogiraj Bhandari.
They soon doubled the lead when Vedant Kokate made a vital run through the middle to sprint past the Blackhaws defedenders and beat the on-rushing goalkeeper to score. They then put the match to bed with a third goal Younus Shaikh, who nodded home from a close range.
