Champions Spicer Adventist University begin with victory

PUNE: Last-year’s defending champions Spicer Adventist University downed AISSMS Institute of Information and Technology 5-0 in the college boys’ section to begin on a winning note in the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports football tournament, at the at Spicer Adventist University ground.

Playing on their home ground, Spicer Adventist University (SAU) had Shamay Ashimray (26th), Meihuanlung Kamei (28th) score in the first half to open a 2-0 advantage and later Shamay Ashimray (39th), Pautengtuang (57th) and Shamay Ashimray (58th) completed the tally against AISSMS.

The day also had Spicer Higher Secondary School win two matches to make it a fruitful day for Spicer.

In the senior boys’ category, Spicer snuffed out Brihan Maharashtra College of Conmerce 5-1 with Harsh Sawansi netting a hat-trick (1st, 11th, 36th), while Tyrmei Pamthied (15th) and Daniel Paul (49th) scored one each. BMCC pulled one back through (Aditya Randive (32th).
