PUNE: Orange has been the colour of Puneri Paltan since inception, but for the Season 5 the colour orange has gone from saffron to blazing that’s oozing more energy as the team readies for the three-month long league starting on July 28.
With lone retained player Deepak Hooda named as captain for the upcoming season, Puneri Paltan has eyes on the future.
Known as the ‘Raiding Machine’, Hooda has been associated with the team since Season 3.
On Wednesday, Hooda was handed the first jersey unveiled in presence of CEO Kailash Kandpal, Head Coach BC Ramesh, principal sponsor Force Motors, and associate sponsor, Kirloskar Brothers.
“I am extremely humbled to be appointed as captain. I am grateful to the management for having faith in me.,” said Hooda.
This year the team has gone through a massive transformation and after retaining Hooda from the last season, it has managed to put together a perfect blend of experience and young talent.
Veteran players such as Dharmaraj Cheralathan, Rajesh Mondal and star young players like Sandeep Narwal, and Girish Ernak will add to the strength of the team. They also have two international players— Takamitsu Kono from Japan and and Ziaur Rahman, the World Cup and Asian Games star from Bangladesh.
Puneri Paltan will be playing its first match, the second match of the day, with U Mumba on July 28.
