Pune: BEG crushed CYB 9-0 in the 9-A-side hockey tournament at Major Dhyanchand Hockey Poligras Stadium in Pimpri on Sunday.
BEG started on an attacking note with Meet Thakur scoring a goal in the first minute. In the next six minutes BEG took a 3-0 lead with Steling Singh scoring the second goal off a pass from Altab Alam in the 5th minute and Rahul Tirky scoring in the sixth minute after being set up by Thakur.
Goals kept on coming for BEG as Niranjan Ekka (14th), Shakti Thakur (15th) and Jwokim Kujur (19th) made it 6-0 for BEG in the first 20 minutes.
In the 29th minute, Aftab made it 7-0 for BEG. After resumption, Meet got his second goal in the 36th minute while Jwokim also scored his second goal of the match in the 39th minute to gave his team a convincing victory over CYB.
Earlier, Central Railway scored half a dozen goals to defeat SRPF 6-0. The match saw Ruben Kedari and Aniket Sapkal scoring four goals between them.
Ruben scored in 5th and 28th minute while Aniket completed a brace, scoring goals in 7th and 28th minute. Romesh Pillay (21st) and Akash Khaire (34th) scored one goal each. In the first match of the day, Kahdki Education registered a 7-4 win over SFCI.
