PUNE: A frantic day’s action saw Balshikshan School pip Millennium School to win a tantalising final of the Pune Zilla Parishad under-14 boys badminton event. The 2-0 triumph saw Balshikshan deservingly lift the under 14- crown.
Being played at the Regional Sports Complex in Yerawada, Adya Parasnis played a pivotal role in Bal Shikshan’s success, winning all his singles matches throughout the tournament.
Adya beat Shreyas Sane 15-9, 15-8 to give Bal Shikshan the early advantage in the finals. In the following doubles match, Millenium High School gave a fight in vein as their challenge was rebuked by the Bal Shikshan School pair of Adya and Viraj Talegaonkar. The duo beat Shreyas Sane and Shaunak Sakhdev-Joshi 15-8, 14-15, 15-7 to help Bal Shikshan win the title.
Earlier, Millennium School clinically beat Seva Sadan School 2-0 thanks to wins in both singles and doubles event. Shreyas Sane beat Aryan Gadgil 15-5, 15-6 to give Millenium School the early advantage. Shreyas then teamed up with Shaunak Sakhdeo-Joshi to topple the Seva Sadan pair of Archit Dandekar and Veer Umbarje 15-6, 15-11 to double the lead.
