Pune: Tushar Aswani and Shivam Jha put together 50 runs for the third wicket after Lions were down by two wickets early on before they scored a nail-biting one-run win over DPES in the league match of the Poona Club Premier League Cricket tournament at the Poona Club cricket ground here.
This was Lions’ second league win that puts them on top of Group B along side Jets, both with 4 points apiece. Aswani remained unbeaten on 21, while Jha slmmaed 34 and then restricted DPES to 60 in the allotted 6 overs. Raunak Dhole-Patil’s knock of 34 not out went wasted.
In a high scoring match, Rohit Acharya scored 18-ball 44 with one 4 and four 6s as All Stars posted 82 for 1 in 6 overs before beating Eagles by 47 runs.
The win took All Stars to the top of the Group A table along side Sailor, who both have two wins from as many matches. Sailors then scored a 9-run win over Tigers via Super Over. Both the teams ended at 56 for 6 in their allotted 6 overs and in the ensusing Super Over, Sailors’ Sameer Dange went hammer and tongs and scored 18 runs and took the match away fro Tigers.
