PUNE: Prabhakar Aspat Academy left it late to complete a 4-3 win over Rovers Academy and join Income Tax, Pune in the semi-finals of the 3rd Late Krishnan Appa Memorial Invitational Hockey Tournament at Major Dhyanchand Hockey Stadium, Pimpri on Tuesday.
Prabhakar Aspat Academy were quick to open their account through a penalty corner conversion by Shubham Thakur (4th). Six minutes later, Rovers Academy made it 1-1 when Aditya Rassal struck.
Thereafter, Aspat Academy struck twice in three minutes via Venkatesh Devkar (16th) and Abish Shuke (18th) to take a 3-1 lead at half time.
On the change, Rovers had Rahul Rassal (39th) and Aditya (41st) level scores 3-3. With the game on evens Yash Thakur (47th) struck to help Aspat go through to the last 4.
Late evening, Income Tax snuffed out Priyadarshini Sports Centre 4-0 who were playing their second match of the day. Two goals in each half Vikram Singh (1st), Ashish Chetty (3rd) and Chirag Mane (51st), Santosh K (57th) settled the issue.
Earlier Priyadarshini Sports Centre, Khadki pulled off a thrilling ‘shoot-out’ win over Air Force, Pune.
The day began with, Priyadarshini matching Air Force on the pitch and shared honours 1-1 at half time. Samer Alam (20th) opened the scoring for Air Force, while Adarsh Jadhav (29th) levelled terms.
On resumption, Air Force had Mandeep’s double strike (37th, 40th) help swell the tally and open a two-goal cushion. Down 1-3, PSC struck back with two successful penalty-corner conversions. First Abdul Salamani (43rd) stuck the board and then Adarsh Jadav (49th) levelled it 3-3, which remained the final scoreline.
