ASI and BCS clinch 12 gold medals in Khelo India

Pune: Army Sports Institute (ASI), Pune and Boys Sports Company (BSC) School struck 12 gold, four silver and 5 bronze medals in the recently concluded Khelo India School Games (KISG) held at New Delhi.

Pune schools, overall claimed 21 medals as Maharashtra grabbed second position on the points table with Haryana claiming top spot. 

Athletes from both the schools participated in five sports disciplines, ie: archery, athletics, boxing, weightlifting and wrestling.

In athletics, sports cadets Vikas Yadav and Rakesh Gond claimed gold in Javelin Throw and Pole Vault respectively.

A Naoba Singh (50 Kg), Anil (48 Kg), Bhavesh Kattimany (52-kg), Vijay Deep (63-kg) and Satendra (80-kg) won gold medals in boxing while Swapnil Shinde (50-kg), Rajat (60 Kg) and J Sai Swaroop won bronze medals.

In weightlifting, sports cadets Achinta Sheuli (77-kg), Jeremy Lalrinnunga (62-kg), Sidhanta Gogoi (56-kg) won gold medals. 
Silver medals were claimed by Jacob (62-kg), Dambi Umpe (69-kg) and Zakhuma (56-kg). Markio Tario also earned a bronze medal in 56-kg weight category. Achinta was also adjudged as best weightlifter of the championship.

Two more gold medals came in wrestling where Praveen and Akash clinched top position in 50-kg and 63-kg Freestyle category.

In the 46-kg Greco Roman category, Rohan Bhosale won silver medal while 69-Kg freestyle event Sanjeev won bronze medal.
Thirty-three sports cadets participated in Khelo India School Games.
