Greater Noida: Everyone in the paddock club of the Buddh International Circuit (BIC) knew what was coming on Sunday, it was a writing on the wall. Anindith Reddy and Chittesh Mandody got their hands on the titles in Euro JK 17 and Formula LGB 4 categories respectively in 20th JK Tyre FMSCI National Racing Championship as the jubilant crowd witnessed a thrilling action on a sunny day.

The premier Euro JK 17 category race got the action underway at one of the world’s fastest racing tracks. With reverse grid starting positions, championship leader Reddy started in the sixth position, behind Chennai’s Vishnu Prasad.

With clear pace advantage over his rivals, Reddy was running in the third place behind Mumbai’s Nayan Chatterjee and Italy’s Lorenzo Pegoraro by the end of the first lap.

Reddy, 27, then appeared in the mirrors of Chatterjee’s car in lap four, but Mumbai lad defended well for a lap but eventually had to give up the top spot to Reddy on lap six.

Once in the fresh air, Reddy pulled away from Chatterjee to clinch his second Euro JK 17 title in a row, finishing the race in 20 minutes,.

He finished 4.124 seconds ahead of Chatterjee, who was 1.893 seconds ahead of Pegararo.

Chittesh fails to finish
Having already secured the championship on Saturday, Kolhapur’s Chittesh Mandody would have loved to finish the season on high but suffered a ‘Did Not Finish’ (DNF) but still won the championship by two points ahead of Chennai’s Sandeep Kumar.

On the very first lap of the race, Mandody took the outside racing line and went past Sandeep Kumar, Diljith and Vishnu but spun at the corner 4 after being hit from the back.
