Pune: Angels Vidyankur School, SSPM Day School, Baby’s English High School scored thrilling wins in their respective matches in Schoolympics at the SP College Ground on Tuesday.
Opting to bat first against Shree Atma Vallabh English School, Angels Vidyankur School scored 116 for 6 in 10 overs, as Vikas Yadav top scored with 28 runs in 18 balls while Om Thorave scored 19 runs to propel their side. Uzaif Shaikh was pick of the bowler for with two wickets.
Chasing a stiff total, Shree Atma Vallabh English School managed to put up only 72 runs on board losing eight wickets as Om Thorave put on an impressive show picking up a five-wicket haul in two overs.
Aditya Kamble (22) was the only batsman for his side who managed to score some runs, as Angels Vidyankur School registered a 44 run victory.
Whopping win
Akshay Khopde smashed a century for SSPM Day school as they thrashed Sarhad School by a margin of 146 runs in day’s other match. Opening the innings, Khopde took just 31 deliveries to reach a three figure mark as his unbeaten knock of 106 was laced with 13 fours and four sixes, hitting Sarhad School bowlers all around the park. Samrat Midhal too scored a quickfire 38 off 18 balls as SSPM Day School scored 164 in 10 overs, losing just one wicket.
Chasing a near impossible target, Sarhad School managed to score paltry 19 runs in their 10 overs losing 9 wickets, as Shivam Honmane picked up four scalps with Gaurav Gaikwad, who picked up two wickets.
In another game, Smt IRK Maharashtriya Mandal beat SS Agarwal English Medium school Dattawadi by 75 runs. Riding on Om Pharande’s all-round show Smt IRK Maharashtriya Mandal scored 107 runs 10 overs as Pharande scored unbeaten 72, while picked up two wickets as well. While chasing, SS Agarwal English Medium school’s innings folded in just 6.5 overs as they were bundled out for 32.
