PUNE: Scoring crucial wins in the qualifying rounds on Wednesday, Maharashtra’s Aman Farogh, Sushrut Karmarkar and Satyajeet Jagdhane were on course to enter the main draw of VV Natu Memorial All India Senior Ranking Badminton Tournament being played at PDMBA courts on Wednesday.
Aman took just about 30 minutes to dispatch his opponent Ajay Meena 21-14, 26-24 to enter next qualifying round, while Sushrut Karmarkar beat fellow Maharashtra player Vinayak Dandawate 21-14, 21-11 to advance.
Aman looked at ease in the first game as he made his opponent toil all over the court. He, however was made to work hard for the second game as Ajay raised his game.
Vinayak however, had a reason to smile later on in the day as he, in tandem with Nihar Kelkar beat Sourabh Kerhalkar and Deep Rambiya in keenly fought contest to make it to the next round of qualification.
In another qualifying matches of the day, Gargee Degvekar and Charuta Vaidya were awarded walkovers in their respective ties while Malvika Bansod recorded impressive win over Preethi K from Telangana to make it to the next round.
The main draw matches are slated to begin on Friday as qualifying rounds for all five categories will conclude on Thursday.
