1-2 finish for Bishorjit and Bitan in Half Ironman trials

Bishorjit completed 1.9-km swimming in 27:41 minutes. To complete 90-km cycling, Bishorjit took 2 hours 16 minutes and 15 seconds.

Pune: Saikhom Bishorjit and Laikhuram Bitan from Bombay Engineer Group grabbed the first and second position in the Half Ironman trials conducted at Balewadi Sports Complex and around recently.

Bishorjit completed the event in 4 hours nine minutes and 42 seconds while Bitan took 4 hours 12 minutes and 41 seconds.

Born and brought up in Manipur, Bishorjit kept his momentum right from the start completing 1.9-km swimming in 27:41 minutes. To complete 90-km cycling, Bishorjit took 2 hours 16 minutes and 15 seconds.

In 21-kilometre cycling, Bishorjit raised the bar of his performance and completed the ride with the timing of 1 hour 24 minutes and 39 seconds which was better than all the other competitors.

Bitan came out with a brave performance and gave tough competition to Bishorjit. Bitan completed 1.9 km swimming in 28:26 minutes while he took 2 hours 15 minutes and 43 seconds and 1 hour 27 minutes and 36 seconds to completed cycling and running event respectively.

Out of 12 triathletes who took part in the event, 8 successfully completed the race which was organised by ‘Recreational Triathletes’.

The organisers will sponsor Bishorjit for Ironman 70.3 event in Sri Lanka or Malaysia and they are also raising funds for others two triathletes.

Results: 1. Saikhom Bishorjit (4 hours nine minutes and 42 seconds), 2. Laikhuram Bitan (4:12:41), 3. Raghunath Mali (4:21:56),4. Lourembam Mahesh (4:28:9), 5. Saikom Naocha (4:40:31).
