Youth nabbed for stealing soldier's ID and ATM cards

Pune: A 23-year-old youth has been arrested from Command Hospital for stealing the identity card and ATM cards of a soldier who was undergoing treatment there. The arrested person has been identified as Mangesh Gajanan Amle, a resident of Wankheda in Jalna district. 

Based on inputs from Military Intelligence (MI), police arrested him on Friday. A junior commissioned officer (JCO) from the security department of the hospital had lodged a complaint with Wanavadi police station.

As per the FIR, on Friday around 7 pm, MI officials passed on information that Amle was suspiciously moving inside surgical ward no. 7 of the hospital. Accordingly, Amle was caught and while searching his bag, authorities found the Army identity card, canteen as well ATM cards of a soldier who was admitted there for treatment. When the soldier was contacted, he informed that his cards were stolen and when the cards from Amle's possession were shown to the soldier, he identified them to be his own.

After this, Amle was handed over to local police and has been charged with offences under sections 448 (punishment for trespass) and 380 (theft) of the Indian Penal Code.
