Youth gets 4-yr RI for repeatedly harassing minor girl

PUNE: A 25-year-old youth has been sentenced to four years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) for repeatedly harassing a minor girl between 2013 and 2015. 

The youth, Nikhil Arjun Waghmare of Rajiv Gandhinagar in Yerawada had continued to harass her even after registration of an FIR. The second case is still pending in a magistrate court. 

Special Judge Dilip Murumkar imposed a fine of Rs 4,000 on the convict Waghmare. He had been following her everywhere and used to pass comments saying he loved her. 

After getting fed up with his harassment, the girl lodged an FIR in on April 29, 2015. But he continued to harass her and she lodged another complaint. 

The court found him guilty of offences under section 354­D (stalking) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC and sections 7 (sexual assault), 11 (sexual harassment) of the POCSO Act.
