Youth booked after woman ends life

The deceased has been identified as Diksha Salve, a resident of Nagpur Chawl in Yerawada. The police have booked Avinash Gaikwad, 30, a resident of Pavana Nagar. 
 

Pune: A 22-year-old woman committed suicide after being spurned by a man who had promised to marry her. The woman ended her life by jumping in front of a train on February 19. A case was registered at Yerawada police station on Wednesday. 

The deceased has been identified as Diksha Salve, a resident of Nagpur Chawl in Yerawada. The police have booked Avinash Gaikwad, 30, a resident of Pavana Nagar who was in a relationship with the deceased  and had promised to marry her. 

According to the Yerawada police, the family of the deceased filed a missing complaint at the Yerawada police station on February 19 after she left the house and didn’t return. She left the house on the morning of February 19 informing her family that she was going to a dispensary. However, when she did not return till evening, her family members registered a missing complaint.

Later, on February 20, the family members were informed that the girl had been involved in a train accident and was fighting for her life at Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital. However, she succumbed to her injuries on February 22.

During the police investigation, the girl informed them about her affair with Gaikwad who had ditched her. The police have booked Gaikwad on charges of abetment of suicide.
