Youth attacked in broad daylight in building on Tilak Road

According to the police, the injured youth is a vagabond and he is acquainted with the youths.

PUNE: A 24-year-old youth was attacked with sharp weapons in a building on the busy Tilak Road on Sunday. The attack happened after he allegedly demanded sex from a minor boy. The police detained three youths including two minors in the case. The incident took place around 2.30 pm near Girija Hotel. After hearing screams of the injured youth, Constables Amit Pawar and Rahul Holkar, who were passing by, rushed to his rescue. With the help of other passers-by they detained the three accused till a team from Khadak reached there. 

Senior Police Inspector Rajendra Mokashi, in-charge of the police station, said that the injured is undergoing treatment at Sassoon Hospital.

The police have detained Mayur Motiram Rathod (18) of Yerawada and two other minor boys. 

According to the police, the injured youth is a vagabond. He is acquainted with the youths. “During questioning of the detained youths, we learned that on Sunday afternoon he invited them to Tilak Road from Bundgarden area under pretext of giving them a treat. They went to the abandoned building opposite Yamaha showroom. He brought them food from a hotel. After lunch, he allegedly demanded to have sex with one of the minor boys. When the boy refused, he allegedly threatened him with a knife. However, the boys snatched the knife and attacked him,” a police officer told Sakal Times. 

The police have not found any relative of the injured. Constable Sachin Mali has lodged a complaint against the accused youths. “We have booked the accused persons for offences under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code and other sections of the Maharashtra Police Act. The injured person is under treatment and he is not fully conscious. We are yet to record his detailed statement,” said Mokashi.
