The complainant, Kumudani Kurapatti (55), a resident of Ganj Peth, was lured into the trap by an advertisement in a Marathi daily. According to the Khadak police, the complainant dialed the phone number mentioned in the newspaper and she was duped of Rs 4.37 lakh between December 17, 2017, and February 16, 2018.

She was made to deposit the amount in the account of fraudsters on the pretext of completing documentation. The complainant realised she had been duped after the fraudsters demanded more money and then started avoiding her calls on being questioned about the documentation procedure.
