Woman duped of Rs 15 lakh on pretext of availing loan

Pune: A 52-year-old woman was duped of Rs 15 lakh by unknown fraudsters posing as bank officials and offering her a personal loan. A case in this regard was registered at Kondhwa police station on Saturday. 

The complainant, a resident of Kondhwa, received the first call from one of the fraudsters in July 2016.

Kondhwa police said the fraudsters first offered her a personal loan of Rs 7 lakh and later raised it to Rs 25 lakh. The woman was contacted through various numbers and was made to transfer Rs 15 lakh over a period of one-and-a-half years on pretext of loan processing fee. 

The police said the suspects seem to be from Delhi as one of the numbers tracked by police is from Delhi circle. However, no one has been arrested yet. 

A case of cheating and under section 66 of IT Act has been lodged against the unidentified fraudsters.
