Woman duped of Rs. 1.2 lakh
A case in this regard was registered at Khadki police station
Pune: An unknown fraudster allegedly siphoned off Rs 1.2 lakh from the account of a woman employed at Khadki Ammunition Factory. A case in this regard was registered at Khadki police station on Friday.
According to the complainant, Shobha Dubal (47), a resident of Khadki, some online fraudster had managed to siphon off Rs 1.2 lakh from her account in September last year.
The Khadki police have informed that it is not yet clear how the fraudster managed to siphon off the money from the woman’s account. The incident took place last year but she discovered it only recently and reported the incident to the police.
The police has initiated an investigation into the matter and have registered a case of cheating against an unidentified fraudster.
Rise in crime
- The Cyber Crime Cell of Pune city police crime branch received more than 5,000 complaints of cyber crime in 2017.
- Police said a majority of the cases were related to cheating for illegal gains.
