Woman ‘bought’ land on Moon, to approach cops

PUNE: The dream of owning land on the Moon led a woman from Kothrud to invest Rs 50,000 in 2005. After 13 years, she realised that she was cheated under the pretext of selling land on the Moon.

The woman, Radhika Date-Waikar, plans to approach the Pune city police Cyber Crime Cell as the officials of the company, whom she had paid Rs 50,000 for one acre land on the Moon, are untraceable.

Radhika said she needs the money back now for higher education of her son, who is studying in Std XII.

“I had seen the advertisement on television and contacted the company. They sent me their bank account details and I transferred Rs 50,000. They sent me a letter stating that I am the owner of one-acre land on the Moon. However, all their helpline numbers have closed and I am unable to contact them,” she said.
