Water tanks may be built in Biodiversity Plan areas

Pune: The State government has given a positive response to construction of water tanks in Biodiversity Plan (BDP) reserved area in Pune city. There are six tanks under 24x7 water supply project, which are located in Sinhagad and Katraj BDP reserved area.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has assured the civic body that the State government will give permission to construct tanks in BDP area.

Pune: The State government has given a positive response to construction of water tanks in Biodiversity Plan (BDP) reserved area in Pune city. There are six tanks under 24x7 water supply project, which are located in Sinhagad and Katraj BDP reserved area.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has assured the civic body that the State government will give permission to construct tanks in BDP area.

The issue was pursued by Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Hadapsar constituency Yogesh Tilekar. He wrote a letter to Chief Minister Fadnavis to look into the matter and take an appropriate decision so that work on 24x7 water tanks can start.

There are three tanks located in Katraj BDP area while remaining three are in Wadgaon Budruk area. Tilekar said, “State government is going to take a decision about Chandni Chowk flyover and Shiv Shrusti project, which are in BDP area. Hence, I requested to CM to consider the proposal to construct water tanks, which are falling in BDP area and grant permission to construct tanks.”
