Visually impaired students to get gadgets

Pune: Free distribution of assistive devices, angel players and smartphones to visually impaired students has been organised by Technical Training Institute of The Poona Blind Men’s Association (TTITPBMA) on June 26. 

Pune: Free distribution of assistive devices, angel players and smartphones to visually impaired students has been organised by Technical Training Institute of The Poona Blind Men’s Association (TTITPBMA) on June 26. 

The Assistive Device scheme is the initiative of Government of India, under the Assistive Devices For Impaired Persons (ADIP) scheme which is a Central government scheme organised by Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment in coordination with National Institute for Visually Handicapped (NIVH).
On June 26, yet another free distribution of assistive devices worth Rs 28,00,000 is organised for visually impaired students.

In Pune, Technical Training Institute is the nodal agency where the students from all over Maharashtra come to fill the forms to avail the benefit of these devices. Almost 700 students all over Maharashtra, have already received assistive devices worth Rs 50 lakh like smart cane, CD players and recording devices. These devices are distributed totally free of cost at the institute under the ADIP scheme.
