Vishrantwadi police stn releases safety guidelines

Pune: Following several incidents of burglaries and attempted housebreaking incidents in Vishrantwadi, Dhanori and nearby areas, officials of Vishrantwadi police have released a list of measures to be taken by housing societies to keep their premises safe.

The murder a 71-year-old woman in Aambanagari society of Dhanori in October 2017 has highlighted the need for security measures in the area. The deceased woman, Radha Nair, was robbed of gold ornaments worth Rs 1.5 lakh. CCTV footages of a nearby area had helped the city police crack the case after a two month.

The measures released by police are as follows: Use of high quality CCTV cameras which will cover different areas of houses, deployment of full time security round the clock, salesman and unknown persons should not be allowed in office premises, societies should maintain a list of visitors with their name and address details, people going out from their homes should ask their neighbours to keep an eye on their houses, use of good safety locks for doors, call police control room immediately in case of any suspicious activity, society members should hold monthly meeting on safety issues, windows should have safety grills and safety doors should be installed, police verification of drivers, tenants and other persons working in the society should be made mandatory.
