3-month wait for licence
Around 3,000 to 4,000 applicants are waiting for their permanent licences for the past three months. Permanent licences cannot be printed due to incorrect data sent by the RTO to the private agency appointed for the purpose. Applicants have already started flocking to the Pune RTO facility, complaining about the delay.

Pune: Vehicle owners and drivers can soon expect registration certificates (RC) and driving licences delivered to them within two weeks of the documents being ready. The regional transport office (RTO), Pune has formulated certain plans to dispatch these crucial documents without delay.

The State Transport Department recently asked the RTOs to curb delays in document dispatch. The department said ideally, a document should be dispatched within two days of it being printed. It should be delivered within two weeks.

Currently, citizens get their RCs and licences at their postal address after almost a month. A meeting of top officials of the transport department was held recently to discuss the lapses in the delivery mechanism, and delays being faced by people.

An RTO official said the Transport Department has asked them to monitor deliveries to reduce complaints.

“We will be reviewing the dispatches every day and ensure that adequate staff is deployed for the work,“ an official said.
