Vanarase elected to executive council of International Theatre Institute

The new executive council of the ITI was elected on the first day of the Congress. In this election, Vidyanidhee Vanarase was elected to the executive council, with a thumping majority.

Pune: The 35th World Congress of the International Theatre Institute (ITI) was inaugurated in Segovia, Spain on Monday.

There are around 90 member countries of ITI. The Indian Centre of ITI was represented by Vidyanidhee Vanarase, who was heading the delegation.

The new executive council of the ITI was elected on the first day of the Congress. In this election, Vidyanidhee Vanarase was elected to the executive council, with a thumping majority.

The term of the new executive council is two years till the next world congress.

All the 57 countries voted in the general assembly. India has been elected as the executive council for the first time in the history of ITI since it was established in 1948.
This would allow the Indian centre to build stronger ties with the international community of performing artists and institutions.

The members of the Indian contingent include Dr Ajay Joshi, Nikhil Gadgil, Aditi Venkateshwaran, Tanmayee Ambedkar, Anushka Vaze, Amrut Samak, Zubin Khetani, Ira Joshi, Parimal Phadke noted Bharatnatyam dancer and lecturer at Lalit Kala Kendra, Gargi Malkani, Kathak Dancer and Director of ‘Dharitri’, Ranchi, Sunil Deshpande, actor and director from Nasik and Subhadip Raha, Creative director of Indira School of Communication.
