US firm donates Rs 10L to SOFOSH

American multinational company Exela Technologies has donated Rs 10 lakh to SOFOSH-Shreevasta NGO under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Pune: American multinational company Exela Technologies has donated Rs 10 lakh to SOFOSH-Shreevasta NGO under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The staff and the company decided to raise the money at their office in Santa Monica, USA in November 2018. 

The company, and its employees, regularly participate in runs for benevolent causes and also host events in Los Angeles and Dallas. Recently, Exela Technologies raised funds and awareness for SOFOSH, a charity based out of Pune, India, during the Thanksgiving Day TurkeyTrot18 race held in Dallas. The employees raised $7,200 and this was matched by the company to bring the total amount raised to $14,400 (roughly Rs 10 lakh).

The Chairman of the company, Par Chadha, handed over the cheque to the members of the NGO. The cheque was received by the head of the NGO, Shyam Mehendale, Secretary Arvind Herlekar, Administrative Officer Sharmila Sayyed and Administrative Co-ordinator Shubhangi Abhyankar. During the event, the company’s Pune Marketing Head Shalaka Diwanji and Dr Zeen along with some women employees were present. 

Chadha and Xin Cheng, Partner HGM Funds, along with other top officials from Exela India visited SOFOSH.
 
Diwanji said that for last 55 years, along with nurturing the orphan children, the NGO has been taking care of their education, health etc. “Precisely, this was the reason that we selected it as it is the most trustworthy and we were moved by it.”
