Two students dead as bike collides with PMC dumper

The deceased have been identified as Mobin Ali Idme Adam (20) of Kalwad in Lohegaon and Sagar Mahajan of Belagavi in Karnataka. Adam was studying BBA at a city-based college, while Mahajan was here for an internship. 

Pune: Two students died in an accident when their speeding bike collided head-on with a Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) dumper on the Sangamwadi BRTS route on Friday midnight. 

The deceased have been identified as Mobin Ali Idme Adam (20) of Kalwad in Lohegaon and Sagar Mahajan of Belagavi in Karnataka. Adam was studying BBA at a city-based college, while Mahajan was here for an internship. 

According to an FIR registered against Adam with Yerwada police station, the incident took place around midnight on the BRTS route, about 200 metres from Sadal Baba dargah. Adam was riding a bike while Mahajan was the pillion rider. They were going towards Yerawada, while the dumper was coming from opposite direction and they collided head-on. 

As per the FIR lodged by constable Vinayak Madhukar Salve (32), who was on marshall duty and had reached the spot, the dumper was travelling on its lane and it was the fault of Adam who lost balance and hit the dumper, hence a case filed against him. The passersby and police rushed both of them to Sassoon Hospital, where they were declared brought dead. 

PSI SD Darade is further investigating the case.
