Two students booked for having used false caste certificates

An FIR has been registered against two students of the All India Shri Shivaji Memorial (AISSM) College of Engineering for allegedly securing admission based on fake caste certificates.

Pune: An FIR has been registered against two students of the All India Shri Shivaji Memorial (AISSM) College of Engineering for allegedly securing admission based on fake caste certificates.

Based on a complaint by college administration officer Abhijit Bhosale, an FIR was registered on Saturday against Karan Kishor Pawar (20) of Pimple Gurav and Nilam Harishchandra Koli (19) of Nana Peth. 

According to police, the two students had taken admissions under special backward class quota for the academic year 2017-18. However, when the college sent the certificates for scrutiny, they were found to be fake. 

Both the students have been charged for offences under sections 420 (cheating), and forgery under relevant sections of the IPC.
