Pune: In a shocking incident, two persons, including a minor, were robbed in broad daylight on Saturday afternoon at the flyover bridge near Nashik Phata. The unknown robbers made away with cash worth Rs two lakh after threatening them with a chopper.
According to the complainant, Suresh Chaudhary, his 15-year-old son Chirag Chaudhary, along with his employee Prakash Prajapati, were robbed by two motorcycle-borne robbers, who snatched away their bag on the bridge.
Chaudhary, who runs a medical shop in Pimpri, sent his son and employee to deposit Rs two lakh in a private bank in Sanghvi.
As per the statement of the complainant, the two left his shop in Pimpri at 3 pm. While they were on the flyover bridge, two youngsters on a KTM motorcycle overtook them, threatened them with a chopper and demanded they hand over the money.
According to Khadak police, the incident happened at an odd time and they are suspecting foul play.
Police Inspector Dili Kulkarni of Khadak Police station said, “The boy was riding the scooter and the employee was riding pillion with the bag of cash inside his jacket. We are suspecting foul play, because how could the robbers know that Chaudhary and Prajapati were carrying money with them?”
Kulkarni said the employee got down from the scooter and started running away when they were confronted by the robbers. He was chased and robbed by the culprits.
“We have initiated an investigation and have started questioning a few suspects. Soon, we will nab the culprits,” added Kulkarni.
The police have registered a case of robbery against the unknown robbers.
