Two new UGC-approved courses started at SPPU

The courses have begun at the Skill Development Centre in the university. They will be run in the ‘Work Integrated’ format.

PUNE: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has given its approval to two new courses, under Bachelor of Vocation (B Voc) in ‘Automotive Manufacturing’ and ‘Supply Chain Management’ at Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU). 

The courses have begun at the Skill Development Centre in the university. They will be run in the ‘Work Integrated’ format.

Under this, the students will get an opportunity to get direct work experience at the companies in the manufacturing sector.

The course will continue for a duration of three years and those completing will be awarded the B Voc degree recognised by the SPPU.

UGC has been promoting vocational courses in order to promote skill development, entrepreneurial spirit along with formal education. Under the National Employment Enhancement Mission (NEEM), the students will be given hands-on job training in the automobile industry. 

The new curriculum will create job opportunities for students in a variety of fields, said Pooja More, Chief Coordinator, Skill Development Centre.

ADMISSION PROCESS HAS BEGUN
The students who have cleared HSC examination or any other 10+2 equivalent will be eligible for these two courses. The admission process for the same has already begun, and those interested can contact Abhijit Ranavare, Assistant Professor, Skill Development Centre at 9423327598.
