Pune: After being subjected to regular harassment by her husband, a pregnant woman committed suicide in Pimple Nilakh on Monday.
The deceased woman was identified as Manisha Prajapati, 25, a native of Uttar Pradesh who was residing with her husband Rajendra Prajapati, 29, at Vishal Nagar in Pimple Nilakh.
The woman was two months pregnant and ended her life after constant harrasment from her husband by setting herself on fire on Monday morning.
According to the Sangvi police, “The couple got married four years ago and was living in Pune.
The woman was two months pregnant but her husband did not want the child.
“He wanted her to abort the child but when she declined to do it, he started harassing her on regular basis. He even used to harass her for dowry.”
The police arrested the accused husband and booked him under the relevant sections of IPC.
