Two held for stealing sugar from truck

Pune: Two men were arrested by Wakad police for allegedly fleeing with a truck loaded with 35 sacks of sugar, totally worth Rs 3 lakh on February 28. Indrakumar Gupta, a trader who has a grocery  shop near Balaji College in Tathawade, had lodged a complaint in this regard. Acting on a tip-off received by policeman Dada Pawar, two persons were nabbed in Karmala, Solapur. The police recovered the truck and the sugar sacks.

The accused were identified as Maruti Kamlakar Shelke (34) and Bapu Sukhdev Talekar (35), both residents of Khadkiwadi in Karmala of Solapur district. Shelke worked with Gupta 3 to 4 years ago and he knew about the functioning of the shop, the police said.
