Two girls molested, assaulted in Yerwada school

Pune: Two boys were booked by the Yerwada police for molesting and assaulting two girls in the premises of a school in Jayjavan Nagar in Yerwada on Friday afternoon. According to Yerwada police, the boys were booked under sections of molestation, assault and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POSCO). Police Sub Inspector MA Tule, who is investigating the case, said that the girls are students of the tenth standard.

At around 3.10 pm, the girls were in the school premises, when the two boys approached them. "It is a case of a one-sided love affair. One of the girls refused the proposal of one of the accused, after which the girl and her friend were touched inappropriately by the boys. The two girls were also punched in their abdomen. Following this, a case was lodged by the principal of the school," added Tule.

Yerwada police are yet to arrest the two accused. Police said that at around 5.15 pm, when two police officials of Yerwada police station reached Pote Vasti in Yerwada to search for the accused, five persons from the family of the accused did not allow police officials to search their home. The family members of the accused were then booked by the Yerwada police under section 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) of the Indian Penal Code.

Later, when police officials refused to back off, a 60-year-old woman from the family of the accused hit herself with a lock on her head.
