Two arrested for manhandling cops

The police officials had an altercation with Balu and Nitin after which they were booked by the police.

Pune: Two persons were arrested by Hadapsar police for allegedly assaulting two police officials who were patrolling in  Hadapsar area on Saturday afternoon. 

The arrested accused have been identified as Balu Doke and Nitin Doke. As per the complaint filed by Police Naik Pratap Gaikwad, he was patrolling in Saswad area when he saw a mob near Rohit Wines.

When Pratap, who was with another police official reached the spot to check out the problem, he found Balu and Nitin were creating a ruckus and threatening people. The police officials had an altercation with Balu and Nitin.

Following the incident, the duo accused were booked under section 333 (voluntarily causes grievous hurt to any person being a public servant in the discharge of his duty as such public servant) of the Indian Penal Code. The duo accused were then arrested. The police said Balu is a history-sheeter.
